Called Back Yes

I Will Survive was a last chance performance sung by Alex in the seventh episode of the first season of The Glee Project, Sexuality. It was originally sung by Gloria Gaynor. Ryan said, after the performance, that he would like to see something else from Alex, something more real than his diva-character. This performance saved Alex from elimination for a further week.

First I was afraid, I was petrified
Kept thinking how I could live without you by my side
And I spent so many nights of thinking how you did me wrong
And I grew stronger, and I learned how to carry on

And now you're back from outer space
And I walked in here just to find that sad look upon your face
I should have changed that stupid lock, I should have made you leave your key
And if I knew for just one second you'd come back to bother me

Go on now, go, walk out the door
Just turn around now, 'cause you're not welcome anymore
Weren't you the one that tried to hurt me with goodbye?
But did I crumble? Did I lay down and die?

Oh no not I! I will survive
Oh as long as I know how to love I know I will survive
'Cause I've got all my love to give
And I've got all my life to live
And I'll survive
I will survive

I will survive

  • This was sung as a mash-up (with "Survivor" by Destiny's Child) on Glee by the Troubletones in the episode Hold on to Sixteen. Ironically, it was sung partly by Mercedes, who Ryan spoke with and joked with her that Alex was competition for her.
