Ryan Murphy (born November 30, 1965) is an American screenwriter, film and television director and producer. Murphy grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana, in an Irish Catholic family. He created Glee along with Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan. Famous television shows Glee, Nip/Tuck, Popular, American Horror Story, The New Normal and film Eat Pray Love are produced by Murphy.

Murphy won his first Emmy for directing the Pilot episode of Glee.

The Glee Project[]

Ryan Murphy is the executive producer for The Glee Project. At the end of every episode the bottom three perform a last chance performance in front of Ryan Murphy. Along with Robert Ulrich and Zach Woodlee he makes the decision which contenders will stay and which one has to leave.

In the last episode of season one, Murphy decides to be the guest judge.

He was also guest mentor in the first episode of season two, accompanied by Lea Michele.
